GEORGIA
The Georgia Department of Public Safety has jurisdiction to investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state’s roads (Georgia State Patrol), as well as to conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials (the Motor Carrier Compliance Division).
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is an independent, statewide agency that provides assistance to the state’s criminal justice system in the areas of criminal investigations, forensic laboratory services and computerized criminal justice information.

Alabama
The Alabama Department of Public Safety governs both the Highway Patrol Division and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
